About us

The founders of BoxCar Revival have been in the salvage industry for over 16 years. However, it wasn’t until September 2014 that a need for authentic boxcar wood was expressed by designers and the high end furnishings market alike. Since then, the focus has strictly been on sourcing salvaged boxcar materials as the growing trend for boxcar furniture has increased across the nation. Each salvaged boxcar is authentic, coming directly from the cars found throughout the United States and Canada. This rebirth of the train’s material is both sustainable and unique.

While the wood itself is a sought after commodity, we incorporated our own ingenuity, craftsmanship and vision to the entire process. Rather than shipping the reclaimed wood solely for profit, we design, treat, and assemble furniture and boxcar wood tabletops based on our ever evolving custom designs.  This empowers clients to obtain highly individualized pieces of repurposed history.  From start to finish, Boxcar Revival is part of the process every step of the way to bring you a unique, authentic, stable and beautifully finished product.

We are still building our history, but thus far we have reclaimed wood and designed pieces from train cars active in the 1940’s through the early 1980’s. Weather conditions, the demands for increased production, battling steel prices and conservation are all significant and sometimes limiting factors when reclaiming the wood and materials required for these pieces of functional history. Every table, stool, bar top and desk tells a story. Each piece has ridden the rails across North America. They have all contributed to the transportation revolution. This might be the end of the tracks, but not the final stop.
